What’s new in Vonkcad, version by version

The house in 3D (“3D” tab of the layout plans): walls, doors and windows, floors, wall colour and floor type per room, wiring devices at their real height. Touch a switch to turn the lamps on, by day or by night, walk through the house at eye level, show the cables and keep pictures for the client’s file.
“Equip the room”: depending on the room type and area, Vonkcad proposes the basic equipment and places it on the plan, in real circuits that follow the GREI. A single Undo.
“The Spark”, the V-shaped quick menu around the cursor (hold Q, long press on a tablet): active circuit and its load, next symbol suggested, choices the GREI forbids in the bathroom greyed out.
DSO cable: installation method, with its reference on the single-line diagram, the current-carrying capacity and the voltage drop for that method.
Vonkcad on tablet and phone (iOS and Android): on a tablet, the whole software by finger; on a phone, the board and circuits in pages, the site work and the PDF file.
Devices per account: one computer, one tablet and two phones; one free change a year, then “Request the replacement” in “My devices” on the website.

Mac version up to date with everything new on Windows up to 0.7.27: new logo, Niko and Legrand wiring devices, IP ratings, remedial work, Niko Home Control II, cabling, front views, quotes, one-click fixes, simulation, English interface.
Projects in the cloud on the Mac: iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive folders recognised, directly connected accounts, the Vonkcad cloud and the “My projects” page.
Texts adapted to the Mac: “this Mac” instead of “this PC”, ⌘ shortcuts everywhere, Mac menu also in English, new icon.

“My projects”: delete a project from its tile, with a confirmation. A project on the PC goes to the Recycle Bin; a project in the Vonkcad cloud is deleted with its previous versions.

Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive accounts connected directly (Settings › Cloud accounts): open and save projects in the cloud without installing their software. Vonkcad only accesses its own folder.

Projects in Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive: “My projects folder” in Settings, found automatically on the PC.
Project changed on another PC: Vonkcad no longer overwrites it and offers to keep both versions or replace the other one.

GREI check: “Show” takes you to the place concerned, “Fix” applies the fix when it is certain (Ctrl+Z undoes it), “Fix all” for a rule, “Justify” with a reason carried into the PDF file.
Simulation on the plan: switches light their points (two-way switch, impulse relay, Niko Home Control), voltage drop at a point shown in colour.
Simulation on the single-line diagram: earth fault or short circuit, the device that trips and the circuits left without power, with the explanation.

Catalogue: tiles by category (enclosures, circuit breakers, RCDs, accessories, wiring devices, home automation, cables, flush mounting, 3D models), then the brand, then the items. Prices for cables, boxes and conduit.
Busbar combs to suit the row and the brand: 2P (N-L or L-N), 3P, 4P, 3P+N for outgoing circuits spread over the phases, with the manufacturers’ references.
Catalogue: “Other brand” in each category – name, colour, then its breakers, RCDs, enclosures, cables… The brand appears wherever it has items and can be chosen for the board.
Inspection file “For whom?”: Inspector, Client or Me, each with its own pages.
Hager RCDs: references from the current Belgian catalogue.

New Quote screen: calculated from the project and set out by section (board, sockets, lighting, appliances…). Materials at purchase price × your markup, labour at a flat rate per point or by the hour, VAT 21 %, 6 % or reverse charge, discount, deposit, separate PDF.
Import your wholesaler’s price list (CSV or Excel): purchase prices are filled in by reference.

Plans: new Wall elevations tab. Each wall seen from the room, with cover plates to scale in the chosen range and colour, doors, windows and furniture (worktop…), the height of each box and dimensions from the corner. Drag a device to change its height or position: the plan follows.
PDF file: “Installation drawings” separate from the inspection file, with the wall elevations.
Plans: circuit links are hidden on opening (Links button to show them).

Cabling: the route follows the control diagram. The switch is fed before its light points, the supply runs from control to control, two-way switches through the strappers, push buttons (impulse relay) and Niko Home Control from the board.

Plans: new Cabling tab. Each cable is routed from the board to the points, by the shortest way, along the walls (through the doors), via the ceiling or in the floor; you can change the path, move the bends and the routing order.
Cable lengths per circuit (route, rises and drops, margin), carried into the bill of materials and the voltage drop.

EV charger to suit the supply: choose 16 or 32 A, single- or three-phase; the power (11 kW on 3N400 V, 6.4 kW on 3 × 230 V), the breaker (4P or 3P), the cable (5G or 4G) and the connection to make (with or without neutral) are adapted to the project’s supply.
Niko Home Control: the controller’s 6 A breaker is added to the board, and the single-line diagram shows the modules and the output that controls each point.

Compliance work redesigned for the electrician: copy in the infringements from the negative report, Vonkcad recognises the subject and suggests the checks to make on site, the materials and a shortcut to the screen that lets you clear them.
Track each infringement (to fix, in progress, fixed) with the work carried out and before / after photos; the PDF file contains the report on clearing the infringements and, optionally, the layout plan.

Niko Home Control II home automation: choose it in Settings, place buttons, thermostats and detectors on the plan, and tick the controlled points.
The controller and modules (switching, dimming, shutters) are calculated and placed in the board, on dedicated rows with their couplers; the bill of materials lists the Niko references and the bus cable.

Compliance work: new screen for existing installations (pre-inspection, negative report received, sale). The deadline is calculated: one year after the report, 18 months after the deed of sale.
Findings with photos, GREI article, location and work to be done; 18 common findings ready to use, and errors carried over from the check.

Degree of protection: the GREI check compares the IP of the device chosen for each point with the one its location requires (bathroom: IPX4 in zone 2, IPX1 outside the zones; external influence zones; outdoors). Low-voltage sockets in the bathroom are exempt.
The degree of protection of each point is shown on the plan, in the point’s materials.

Branded wiring devices: Niko (Original, Intense, Pure, Hydro) and Legrand (Valena Next, Niloé Next, Plexo). Choose the range and colour in Settings, or point by point on the plan.
Bill of materials with the manufacturers’ references: mechanism, centre plate, cover plate, flush box or surface box. A surface socket gives the socket and its box; a waterproof socket moves to the waterproof range (Niko Hydro, Legrand Plexo).
Combinations: group several points under one cover plate (e.g. 3 switches and a socket, even from different circuits). They sit side by side along the wall with a single marker; choose horizontal or vertical, surface mounting or hollow wall. The bill of materials counts one N-gang plate and one single box per gang (multiple box in hollow walls).
Plumb line: align a socket under a switch (same point on the wall, different heights, separate plates). The items sit side by side against the wall and the mounting height is shown in the marker.
Catalogue: new Wiring devices tab to correct a reference or enter a price.
Shaver socket removed from the palette and menus: it no longer exists in Belgium.

Spare breaker: new choice “Spare breaker (future circuit)” in the circuits menu. The breaker is provided for in the board, the single-line diagram and the bill of materials, with no cable or point of use, and without the “no point of use” remark.
Circuits named “Reserve” with no points in existing projects automatically become spare breakers.

Plans: sockets stand out from the wall. Flush-mounted, the wall cuts the short feed line in its middle; surface-mounted, the socket sits entirely against the wall.
External influences, critical and safety installations: screen and file pages redesigned, with icons and the colour chosen in Settings.
